WEDA Academy:

Deep Dive into Data Centers

Wednesday, January 28, 2026
In person: Madison Marriott West

(Held in conjunction with the WEDA Governor’s Conference on Economic Development)

Presented in partnership with the Wisconsin Data Center Coalition (WIDCC)

As Wisconsin continues to attract national attention for major data center investments, this three-hour Academy session will take a deep dive into how communities, utilities, and industry partners are responding to unprecedented growth in this sector. Building on December’s introductory session, this program will move beyond Data Center 101 to explore real-world case studies, community readiness, infrastructure collaboration, and economic impacts.

Key discussion areas will include:

  • Lessons learned from recent multi-billion-dollar projects and smaller-scale data centers across Wisconsin
  • What “community readiness” looks like — from zoning and permitting to workforce and energy infrastructure
  • Partnership models that connect utilities, local governments, and developers
  • Best practices and insights from companies leading the way

This session is designed for community and economic development professionals, utility partners, and policymakers seeking a practical understanding of how to prepare for and leverage data center development as part of long-term community and regional growth.
