The highly regarded Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) will be held at the Pyle Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus from Sept. 13, 2021 (2:00 PM) through Sept. 16, 2021 (1:00 PM). This course provides expert instruction in the basic concepts, theories and methods of economic development from experienced professionals and instructors. Participants will study the core building blocks of economic development, including:

  • Economic development finance
  • Managing a local economic development organization
  • Small business development & entrepreneurship
  • Business attraction and retention
  • Community and neighborhood development
  • Workforce development
  • Real estate development
