POSITION TITLE:                     PROJECT MANAGER

DEPARTMENT:                        Executive Office

REPORTS TO:                         CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

POSITION(S) SUPERVISED:         NONE

Position Summary

 

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the Workforce Innovation Challenge grant program funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and other federal programs administered in collaboration between WEDC and other state agencies. This position will support the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and manage the collaboration efforts between WEDC, other state agencies, and regional organizations through disseminating project information, building partnerships, and participating in project-related work groups and committees. This project-based role is not to exceed twenty-four (24) months.

Responsibilities

 

The Project Manager will spend a majority of his/her time in these activities:

 

  • Act as a resource on issues related to program design and implementation, performing specific evaluation, monitoring, and planning tasks.
  • Assist in developing relevant benchmarks and metrics to measure the effectiveness and economic impact of the programs.
  • Coordinate with participating state agencies, regional planning commissions, communities, regional economic development organizations, and other community development partners to disseminate project information and provide technical assistance.
  • Facilitate business and community assessments and identify resources to assist communities obtaining funding to carry out the identified initiatives.
  • Proactively collaborate with WEDC’s internal divisions to communicate program activities and information needs.
  • Work closely with WEDC program and marketing divisions to highlight the impact of the programs.
  • Oversee and provide periodic assessment reports of program performance and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Compile and analyze data to meet federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Support WEDC’s mission through the fulfillment of other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, or related field or comparable education/experience/ training
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, including grant management

 

Skills and Talents:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including public speaking skills.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects; strong project management skills, planning, prioritizing, and organizing.
  • Creative problem solving through innovation, collaboration, and commitment to service.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to independently organize and complete work, prioritize projects, and manage a variety of duties in a fast-paced, flexible work environment.

Other Requirements

 

  • State-wide travel will occur on an occasional basis, between 40-60% of the time.  Travel is anticipated to include day and overnight travel.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance that meets minimum state requirements are required.
  • This position is eligible for reimbursement according to the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.
  • This position requires the employee to provide a mobile device that allows for phone, text, and email access.
  • Based on the responsibilities of this position, this position may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
