Associate or Senior Transportation Planner

West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (WCWRPC), and the Chippewa-Eau Claire Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), are seeking to fill a professional position that will focus primarily on transportation related planning projects. In limited circumstances, the position will assist other WCWRPC program areas as well. WCWRPC is a seven-county, multidisciplinary planning agency located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin – a vibrant All-American City – responsible for assisting local governments with economic development, community development, transportation, housing, environmental, and comprehensive planning needs. The MPO handles transportation planning and coordination for the Chippewa-Eau Claire area. The successful candidate will assist senior level staff, and depending upon qualifications, may lead some projects. The ideal candidate will be innovative and possess superior written and verbal skills; excellent interpersonal skills; proficiency with Word, Excel, and other Office applications; familiarity with common demographic and economic research and analysis techniques; experience with grant writing and project administration, and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with GIS, and knowledge of transportation modeling and transit systems, is a plus but not required. A bachelor’s degree in planning, or related field is required, masters’ degree desired. Candidates must possess at least three (3) years’ experience in planning, or a closely related field. Starting salary range: $50,000 - $68,000 depending on background and qualifications.
